Orchard Removal Services

Tree and Root Removal

Orchard removal is a big investment and doing it right can make all the difference in the growth and success of your new project. AG Works uses the most efficient implements to remove complete root systems, therefore leaving your soil vacant and clear of diseased roots. By removing the majority of roots at the time of stump removal we remove the food source for organisms such as nematodes, which can greatly damage new tree root systems. Our priority is to not only remove the standing tree and stump, but to also clean the soil so your next process of land development is easier, more cost effective, and environmentally sound. Our fleet consists of CAT 336 excavators with root removal claws, so even large trees and root systems such as walnuts are easily and efficiently removed all at once.

Whole Orchard Recycling (WOR)

Whole orchard recycling (WOR) is a method of tree removal that not only helps your future growth and soil sustainability, but also helps the environment and agricultural base. As restrictions for burning orchard debris increases, the option for wood chipping and reincorporation into the ground is quickly becoming the preferred method of orchard removal in California. AG Works can provide whole orchard recycling for growers interested in this process which includes grinding, chipping, spreading and discing. Please see our references page for some helpful links as well as the Youtube video below. Please contact us for more information regarding this process, we’d be happy to discuss in more detail with you.

Soil Inversion

Inverting soil is vital to unlocking nutrients and allowing future growth of root stocks in “locked up” soil. Depending on the soil conditions, soil inversion can be done quickly after orchard removal or to virgin ground that is being prepared for new growth. By inverting the soil, bringing subsoil to the surface, the ground can ameliorate soil water repellence, allowing for retention of moisture in the ground for longer periods of time. Soil inversion has also proved to enhance herbicide applications, and in some cases, by removing the herbicide resistant weed seeds, a reduction in herbicide use may be anticipated. The mixing of soil helps give an overall benefit to your land and gives the grower a leg up on the success of the next planting, which in turn generates higher yields and heathier trees. Please see the video below that shows the exposure of loamy, fertile soil in an otherwise heavy clay topsoil.

Discing & Land Leveling

Preparing your ground for the next step is critical and in most instances is time sensitive. AG Works can provide land preparation including discing and cultivation as well as land leveling.
